HOW TO BE A GRACIOUS
Jennifer’s wedding day was fast approaching. Nothing could dampen her excitement — not even her parent’s nasty divorce.
Her mother had found the PERFECT dress to wear and would be the best-dressed mother-of-the-bride ever!
A week later, Jennifer was horrified to learn that her father’s new young wife had bought the exact same dress as her mother!
Jennifer asked her father’s new young wife to exchange it, but she refused.
‘Absolutely not, I look like a million bucks in this dress, and I’m wearing it,’ she replied.
Jennifer told her mother who graciously said, ‘Never mind sweetheart. I’ll get another dress. After all, it’s your special day.’
A few days later, they went shopping and did find another gorgeous dress.
When they stopped for lunch, Jennifer asked her mother, ‘Aren’t you
going to return the other dress? You really don’t have another occasion
where you could wear it.
Her mother just smiled and replied, “Of course I do, dear.
I’m wearing it to the rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding.”

Topping the list is my family ... spending time with them in person or on the phone ... each and every one of them holds a special place in my heart. Contentment is snuggling up with my husband. Talking with one of my kids always leaves me with a smile on my face.
Spending time with my family has to be followed by spending time with my friends...many of whom are like family.
I love to lose myself in a good book...one that I hate to see end. I'm currently reading Jen Lancaster's books ... the first is Bitter is the New Black ... I'm on her third. For a laugh-out-loud reading experience, pick up this book. You won't want to put it down. I promise. My daughters turned me on to these books, so they're loved by all ages!
I love to travel, especially with my family and friends. It's so much fun to share sights and experiences that get talked about over and over through the years.
My favorite? Italy. No doubt about it. I think I may have been Italian in another life. I felt so peaceful and at home both times we visited Italy...the sights, the sounds, the smells, the colors, the people. Just call me Francesca.
Tying together spending time with family and friends and my love of
Italy would, naturally, be Italian food. Giata DiLaurentis I'm not, but
I totally enjoy everything about the process of cooking Italian food
for my family ... except the cleanup.
There's the aroma of tomatoes and garlic ... tasting the breaded eggplant fresh out of the pan ... rolling the meatballs ... layering the lasagna ... lifting off a perfectly formed pizzelle cookie. I even make my own Sambucca to sip while we sit around the table after dinner. See...Francesca...told ya.
Other favorites...roses, the pearls my husband's gifted me, the beach, hugs and kisses, the movies My Cousin Vinny and Life is Beautiful, chocolate covered cherries.

Take time today to touch someone's heart. Express your love to your spouse. Thank a parent. Kiss your children. Hug a friend. Smile at a stranger. For no good reason at all.
Stop and smell the roses ... hope you find some as pretty as these from my husband recently for our 33rd anniversary.

What do you do when you're just hangin' a-round?
If I buy a new pair of shoes, I automatically add bandages to my shopping list. I have horribly tender feet. So, yesterday's post on shoes had my feet aching.
But then my heart skipped a beat. A miracle in a blue package.
I've never tried Friction Block, but the BandAid website says it "has a lubricating formula that glides on smoothly to instantly reduce rubbing on skin. It forms an invisible barrier, making it ideal for open shoes, and provides an easy, non-messy application."
Sounds good to me.
If I can wear a cute shoes without the side effects of -- as a Friction Block magazine ad says -- "irritation, crankiness, throbbing, stinging, aching, discomfort, abusive behavior toward wait staff, sprawling out on the curb, date befuddlement, mascara tears and limping like a pirate," then this is the new item on my shopping list.
