You most likely have gotten an email "friendship questionnaire" asking you all sorts of things, like:

• What's your favorite movie?
• Are you a morning or night person?

That kind of thing. There's usually a question something like this: Pearls or Diamonds?

Without fail, pearls is always my answer. I. Love. Pearls. Any pearls I have are from my husband...so that just makes them extra special.

Etiquette: Mother of the Bride Hats

Is it okay for a Mother of the Bride to wear a hat???

If you've visited The MOB Mentality before, you probably won't be surprised at this answer: ASK THE BRIDE!!! Her answer is the definitive answer.

If the Bride says no: No hat. Don't pass GO. Don't visit this blog tomorrow (it'll show veerryyy pretty hats that'll only cause temptation).  However...you could show her tomorrow's post with those gorgeous hats and THEN ask her opinion about you wearing one.....hmmm....

If the Bride says yes: There are a few things to keep in mind when choosing the perfect Mother of the Bride hat.

• Keep it simple. Don't outshine the Bride. The perfect Mother of the Bride hat should not attract attention away from the Bride but should merely complement what is, of course, the perfect Mother of the Bride Dress.
• Keep in mind your hairstyle. How will you wear your hair the day of the wedding? Don't pick out a hat that will crush that gorgeous 'do.
• Remember the old saying "You make a better door than window?" Don't make your hat so big that it blocks other guests' view of the wedding couple.

When should you take off your hat? I think it's appropriate to take off your hat once you reach the reception. And no later than when you are seated at your table.

I think a hat would be a perfect accessory for an outdoor ceremony. And a morning ceremony. Even an afternoon one. Not so much for an evening ceremony. Just my opinion...what's yours?

 

Mother of the Bride Fashion: Custom Purses

Once you've found the perfect Mother of the Bride dress (and are basking in the joy of having accomplished one of your most important Mother of the Bride responsibilities), why ruin the euphoric feeling with the stress of finding a purse to match. Go custom.

Mother of the Bride Accessories: There's no place like home

These shoes I happened upon over at Wedding Chicks inspired me.

I’ve been wishing lately that I had a pair of red shoes. Or blue shoes. Or green shoes.  Something other than the black and brown shoes in my closet.  Black and brown heels.  Black and brown sandals.  Black and brown flats.

 So, when I saw these shoes, I decided I would find a dress to wear at my daughter’s wedding that would go with red shoes…

 

... or green. These little lovelies were shown on -- where else -- the Green Wedding Shoes blog.

These pink shoes remind me of the color dress I wore as Matron of Honor for my sister. That would be a nice, nostalgic touch, don't you think? I came across these over at Wedding Bee.

I sure wouldn't mind sportin' this blue Jimmy Choo pair either, that's for sure. These were spotted at Style Me Pretty.

Ahhh…robin’s egg blue. It’ll be a springtime wedding, so this pair that I happened upon over at Ritzy Bee would be perfect!
